Genetic, antimicrobial resistance profile and mortality rates of Acinetobacter baumannii infection in Brazil: A systematic review

نویسندگان

چکیده

The increase of multidrug-resistant bacteria - including Acinetobacter baumannii (A. baumannii) has been reported globally. aim this systematic review was to determine the risk factors A. infection, its resistance profile, reservoirs and mortality rates in Brazil. Data from over 3,000 patients were included. Results suggested that is widely transmitted Brazil endemic clones ST1, ST15, ST 25, ST79, ST162 ST730 most reported; also, blaOXA23, blaOXA51 blaOXA143 common resistant genes. for infectionincluded procedure using invasive devices, previous antibiotic therapy, hemodialysis, comorbidities higher scores on Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA). Two out five studies identified multidrug polymyxin. Mortality varied between 43.7% 81%, except ST25 strain which there a 100% rate. associated with sepsis, respiratory septic shock, old age (>60 years) administration norepinephrine. Nonetheless, highlights need more data infectionacross support public policies aiming control prevent dissemination bacteria.

Evaluation of Resistance to Aminoglycosides among clinical isolates of Acinetobacter baumannii: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

In past decades, aminoglycosides have been commonly used to treat gram-negative infections as well as multi-drug resistant tuberculosis strains. However, in recent years, intrinsic, adaptive and acquired resistances have been raised against aminoglycosides which limits the uptake of these antibiotics. Acquired resistance to Acinetobacter baumannii responsible for nosocomial infection against am...

Acinetobacter baumannii: epidemiology, antimicrobial resistance, and treatment options.

Multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii is recognized to be among the most difficult antimicrobial-resistant gram-negative bacilli to control and treat. Increasing antimicrobial resistance among Acinetobacter isolates has been documented, although definitions of multidrug resistance vary in the literature. A. baumannii survives for prolonged periods under a wide range of environmental condi...

Genetic Regulation of Virulence and Antibiotic Resistance in Acinetobacter baumannii

Multidrug resistant microorganisms are forecast to become the single biggest challenge to medical care in the 21st century. Over the last decades, members of the genus Acinetobacter have emerged as bacterial opportunistic pathogens, in particular as challenging nosocomial pathogens because of the rapid evolution of antimicrobial resistances. Although we lack fundamental biological insight into ...
